Villawood Migrant Hostel

Once they arrived in the other hemisphere in May 1963 thanks to the "Assisted Passage Migration Scheme", the Young family was made to stay at the Villawood Migrant Hostel near Sydney (now Villawood Immigration Detention Center), and then moved after some rainy weeks to 4 Burleigh Street in Burwood, in a semi-detached house. It was at the Villawood Migrant Hostel that George Young met Harry Vanda, with whom he formed the Easybeats in 1964.
